JOB TITLE: Credit Analyst

Mississippi Land Bank is a financial institution that provides financing for agriculture, agri-business and rural real estate purchases and improvements. The institution is headquartered in Senatobia, Mississippi with six full time branch offices and three satellite offices that service the 32 counties in Northern Mississippi. With over $800 million in assets, the institution is a cooperative and part of the Farm Credit System.


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Business or a related field, or equivalent experience and one (1) to five (5) years of experience in the administration and analysis of credit on commercial, agricultural mortgage, and/or capital markets loans including risk assessments and recommendations on approval of loan applications.

Assists lending staff in the analysis, servicing, and reporting of the association’s commercial, agricultural mortgage, and capital markets loans. Fully competent professional, assignments are varied and moderately complex in nature, some latitude for decision making, works under moderate supervision.


  1. Assists lending staff in the analysis, annual servicing, and reporting of the association’s commercial, agricultural mortgage, and commercial loans. Works directly with lending staff in the development of appropriate credit decisions and assists with preparation of other reports as requested by management.
  2. Analyzes financial information to form an opinion of the strengths, weaknesses and risks associated with loan packages. This will include balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and tax returns for core credits, and 10-K’s, 10-Q’s and audited financial statements for capital markets credits. Assists in determining probability of default ratings as appropriate.
  3. Complies with proper credit administration and provides guidance to lending staff on association’s policies and procedures as needed.
  4. Ensures all assigned loans are underwritten and risk rated properly, and loss given defaults are correct.
  5. Assists senior management with employee loan applications and assists credit staff in the administration office with underwriting or other credit needs, as necessary.
  6. Assists VP Credit Analyst and Chief Credit Officer in writing and updating credit policies and procedures, as necessary.


General knowledge of accounting/financial systems. Specialized knowledge of accounting and/or finance principles. Skill in oral and written communication. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to perform intermediate-level accounting and financial analyses under moderate supervision. 


Ability to sit for long periods of time.  Ability to stand for limited periods of time.  Ability to climb stairs multiple times during the day with ease.  Frequent finger/hand manipulation (e.g. keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.). Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling while exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
