For over 100 years, Mississippi Land Bank has taken great pride in giving back to the communities in which we serve with the goal of making Mississippi the best place to call home. Many people do not know that there are over 600,000 Mississippians who will struggle to put food on the table this upcoming holiday season. 

In alignment with our core values, Mississippi Land Bank has initiated a Grounded in Giving campaign with the goal of helping to feed those in hunger throughout the state. The Mississippi Land Bank has partnered with EXTRA TABLE again this year to achieve this goal, and we are calling on our Mississippi Land Bank family to help us in supporting this effort. Together we can make a difference and feed fellow Mississippians.

WAYS TO GIVE

During the entire month of October, Mississippi Land Bank will kick off our Grounded in Giving campaign. We have a couple of ways that you, as a member of the Mississippi Land Bank family, can get involved.

• Funds: Our goal is for our Mississippi Land Bank family to raise $10,000 for Extra Table. We have committed to matching the funds raised during this campaign up to $10,000. To donate, visit www.tinyurl.com/MSLandBankFEEDS. You can also mail a check to Extra Table at 3904 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39402. Any donations are welcomed and appreciated.
• Food: All six Mississippi Land Bank branch locations will be accepting healthy, non-perishable food items to deliver to local food pantries. You may also visit a branch and pick-up an Extra Table food box. Each Extra Table food box contains a grocery list and instructions. Once the boxes are filled, you can return them to your local Land Bank branch any time before October 31st.

MEALS MATTER AND DOLLARS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Extra Table is a non-profit organization founded by famous restauranteur Robert St. John in 2009. The goal of Extra Table is to ensure that all Mississippians have access to healthy, nutritious meals. Extra Table applies effective business concepts within their non-profit organization to provide healthy meals to those in need. Using warehouses to store large truckloads of canned goods, they can stretch each donation as far as possible.

For every dollar donated, Extra Table can purchase nearly 6 healthy meals. Extra Table’s unique method of fundraising, food procurement, and distribution is efficient and effective in ensuring that food pantries remained stocked with healthy, nutritious meals throughout the year.
