growing tomorrow's leaders
Mississippi Land Bank is a proud supporter of 4-H and FFA and the biggest livestock exhibition in Mississippi: The Dixie Nationals. This year, 1,500 young people exhibited over 2,000 head of livestock, in hopes of securing a spot in the Sale of Junior Champions. People from all over the state have a chance to purchase the 46 champion animals, including businesses, legislators, and commodity organizations. All of the proceeds goes back to the 4-H and FFA members for scholarships to further their education.
Mississippi Land Bank purchased several animals in the sale, and we are proud to give back to these young agricultural enthusiasts. Our hope is for these young people to further their education, secure a job in Mississippi, and give back to the agriculture industry. The opportunities in agriculture are far greater than they've ever been before, and our goal is to strengthen the industry for many years to come.
giving back to our communities
Food insecurity is a major issue across our state. With more than 600,000 Mississippians are struggling to put food on the table this holiday season, we wanted to help. Together, we have donated nearly $20,000 towards meals for those in need and over 400 boxes of food to local food pantries for Extra Table.
Extra Table was launched in 2009 by well-known restauranteur Robert St. John, and their number one goal is to feed hungry Mississippians. Through fundraising, they stock food pantries and soup kitchens with wholesome, nutritious food, making a difference in the lives of Mississippians.
